We analyze audio; NOT your data. The OHLAnalyzer app has no internet permission, so it cannot send anything anywhere, to us or to anyone else.
This policy covers the OHLA mobile app OHLAnalyzer
(package com.ohlamix.app) and this website, ohlamix.com.
They work very differently, so they are described separately below.
OHLA LLC is a company based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. For anything in this policy, write to mia@ohlamix.com.
OHLAnalyzer listens to sound through your device's microphone, or through an instrument you plug in, so it can show you the frequency content in real time and translate it into haptic feedback you can feel.
That audio is analyzed as it arrives and then discarded. It is never recorded, never written to a file, and never sent anywhere. Nothing leaves your device.
Android apps must declare every permission they use, and the operating system enforces those declarations. OHLAnalyzer declares exactly three:
| Permission | What it is for |
|---|---|
RECORD_AUDIO | Reading live sound so it can be analyzed on your device |
VIBRATE | Haptic feedback through your phone or a connected controller |
MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS | Configuring the audio input for analysis |
The app does not declare the INTERNET permission.
Without it, Android blocks the app from opening any network connection at all.
This is not a promise we are asking you to take on trust; it is a restriction
enforced by your phone.
If you connect a game controller, the app sends vibration patterns to it and reads its inputs. Pairing is handled by Android itself, not by OHLA, and no information about your controller is collected or stored.
The website is different from the app, because it has a signup form.
If you choose to enter your email address in the signup form on ohlamix.com, that address is submitted to a Google Apps Script endpoint and stored in our Google Workspace account. We use it only to send you OHLA news and product updates. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with advertisers.
To be removed from the list, or to ask what we hold, email mia@ohlamix.com and we will delete your address. Giving us your email is entirely optional; the rest of the site works without it.
This site is served by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may record standard request information, including IP addresses, for security and reliability. That data is handled under GitHub's privacy statement, not by us. We do not run advertising or ad-tracking scripts on this site.
To understand how people find and use the website, ohlamix.com uses Google Analytics. It records which pages you view, clicks on the Buy button, the site that referred you, your device, browser and operating system, your approximate location (city or country), and how long you stay. To tell new visits from repeat visits, Google Analytics stores first-party cookies in your browser.
We use this information only to improve the site and understand what interests our visitors. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising, do not send it your name, email or payment details, and do not sell this data. Google processes it under its own policies. You can opt out by blocking cookies in your browser or installing the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. This applies only to the website; the app still sends nothing anywhere.
If you buy something from ohlamix.com, the payment is handled by Stripe. You enter your card details on Stripe's own checkout, not on a form we built, and OHLA never receives or stores your card number.
What reaches us from a completed order is your email address, what you bought, the amount, and a delivery address if the item is physical. We use it to deliver the order, to email you about that order, and to keep the records a business is required to keep. We do not sell it and we do not add you to the newsletter because you bought something — that is a separate choice you make yourself.
Stripe handles your card data as a processor under its own privacy policy, and is responsible for the security of the payment itself. To have your order records deleted, email mia@ohlamix.com — note that tax and accounting law requires us to keep transaction records for a period even after a deletion request.
OHLAnalyzer is a tool for musicians and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Since the app collects no information from anyone, there is nothing for us to hold from a child or from an adult.
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR in Europe and the CCPA in California, you may have the right to see the personal data a company holds about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how it is used.
For the app, there is nothing to request, because no personal data is collected or transmitted. For the newsletter, email mia@ohlamix.com and we will show you what we have or delete it. We do not sell personal information.
If the app ever does begin collecting data, for instance if a future version adds accounts or cloud features, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the effective date at the top of this page will change. Material changes will also be noted on this page.
